DAVIESS CO., Ken. (WFIE) - The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people suspected of drug trafficking out of a motel.

Officials say 50-year-old Charles Hope and 40-year-old Billie Vasquez were arrested yesterday at a motel in the 1300 block of West 2nd Street in Owensboro.

They say the warrant arrests were conducted after authorities did several undercover controlled drug buys from the suspects.

During the arrests, officials say they found evidence of an ongoing drug trafficking operation including meth, marijuana, prescription pills, baggies, scales, glass smoking pipes and a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen.

They say the Department of Community Based Services came to assist after detectives found two small children living in the apartment with access to the unsecured, illegal drugs.

Hope and Vasquez have been charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including numerous counts of trafficking, possession and also endangerment for the two children.

Authorities say this is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges and arrests are anticipated.
