EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Starting in the 2025-26 school year, students in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation will no longer be required to wear khakis and polos as part of the school’s dress code.

According to the EVSC’s website, students will now be moved to a more traditional dress code, doing away with the school uniform-style clothing.

A post on North High School’s Facebook Page says “Many families have shared concerns about the cost and limited availability of polo shirts and khaki pants, noting the added financial strain.”

The post says officials believe it made it clear that current guidelines were no longer meeting the needs of our students and families and a change was necessary.

With the updated guidelines, students will be expected to wear clothing that is safe, appropriate, and conducive to a positive learning environment in schools.

Attire with images or language that promotes violence, illegal substances, or hate speech will not be allowed.

School administrators will determine whether or not the attire creates a disruption to the learning environment.
