Winter storm continues in Tri-State, road conditions ‘extremely dangerous’
TRI-STATE (WFIE) - Snow has continued to fall in the Tri-State, leading to estimates of 1″ of snow per hour in some areas.
The Indiana State Police Jasper Post has reported the roadways are extremely dangerous, with multiple crashes and slide-offs happening.
They say there is a semi in a ditch on State Road 37 in Orange County resulting in SR 37 and CR 550 South being closed.
ISP Jasper posted photos of other wrecks this morning as well as what I-69 looks like right now.
In another post, authorities say they want to remind drivers to use their headlights for other drivers to see them through the heavy snow.
Sergeant Todd Ringle with the ISP Evansville District says a crash on I-69 near the 4 mile marker was reported without injuries.
He also says US41 was completely covered with snow this morning and to avoid traveling.
A semi has been reported to be stuck around 10:00 a.m. on the North-bound lanes of Greenriver Road just North of Morgan Avenue.
Dispatch says officers are on scene while they wait for a tow truck to move the semi.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says E. Mt. Pleasant Road is unaccusable without snow chains or 4-wheel-drive.
They also have reported a crash on Old State Road and Wortman Road.
Officials say a fuel truck was unable to make it up St. Joseph Avenue’s hill near the Mesker Park Zoo earlier this morning.
Vanderburgh, Posey, Gibson, Warrick, Dubois, Daviess and Spencer are among the many counties that have been placed under a Travel Advisory.
