MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WFIE) - The new entry at Mahr Park Arboretum was dedicated at a ceremony Wednesday.

The nearly 13,000 pound stone sign was installed back in September, along with two large hand-chiseled capstones.

Work since then has included installing two waterfalls and landscaping.

Mahr Park Arboretum is 265 acres of land where Dr. Merle Mahr and his wife, Glema, used to live.

They donated the land to Madisonville for it to become a park when they died.

Leaders call it a lasting tribute to the Mahrs’ vision and generosity.
