Evansville man’s arrest for child porn was part of bigger FBI-led operation, officials say
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - We’re learning more about the arrest of an Evansville man accused of having over a 1,000 images of child pornography.
In February, 33-year-old Raymond Lapensee Jr. was taken into custody and charged with several counts of child porn possession and child exploitation.
Now, the Department of Justice is revealing his arrest was part of Operation Restore Justice, an FBI-led investigation that resulted in 205 arrests across the country.
Investigators say the operation also led to the rescue of 115 children.
“Every child deserves to grow up free from fear and exploitation, and the FBI will continue to be relentless in our pursuit of those who exploit the most vulnerable among us,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. “Operation Restore Justice proves that no predator is out of reach and no child will be forgotten.”
Online court records show Lapensee has a detention hearing next Thursday.
