Indy 500 ‘Festival Princess’ visits patients at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - We’re just weeks away from the Greatest Spectacle in Racing - the Indianapolis 500!
As part of the “Month of May” festivities, Indy 500 Festival Princess Natalie Restivo and the official festival pickup truck made a quick pit stop in Evansville on Tuesday.
Restivo visited Ascension St. Vincent last month to meet nurses and patients, and she made a special visit this morning to do it again.
While she was in town, people at the hospital were able check out the official Indy 500 pickup truck in person and get a quick bite to eat at the BlueBird Hot Chicken food truck.
Restivo says she really enjoys getting the opportunity to sit down with patients and staff at Ascension.
“I was talking to two ladies earlier and they said they were Oncology Navigators, and they get to talk to patients and work with them through the process of, after a diagnosis, what you’re going to do, what your insurance covers,” she says. “And that’s amazing, because not every hospital has that and it’s amazing what healthcare is doing now to make it easier for patients, more accessible.”
The Indianapolis 500 runs Sunday, May 25.
