EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Local non-profit Young and Established held an event tonight to show their support for teachers here in the Tri-State.

The event, held at the Old National Events Plaza, saw attendees eager to show their appreciation for educators.

Courtney Johnson, Executive Director of Young and Established, spoke about the motivation behind the gathering saying teachers have been through a lot, especially in recent years.

He says as an organization, they’ve been wanting to put together an event like this for a while now to show teachers that their hard work and dedication are truly valued.

“We support our teachers to the fullest and it shows,” Johnson says. “Throughout the year we do a lot of events, a lot of different events at the schools. We help our teachers out as much as we can and this was a way to get all our teachers under one roof and let them know we appreciate them.”

All the proceeds from tonight’s event will go directly towards supporting local teachers and their classrooms.

Johnson says it’s important to provide teachers with the resources they need to continue their vital work.
