New senior center planned for Owensboro
OWENSBORO, Ken. (WFIE) - After years of planning, work will soon be underway on a new senior center in Owensboro.
Officials showed off their plans for the new center today.
They awarded the construction contract to Haden Construction.
They will build the new center on 2nd street and carter road just west of town near the botanical garden.
New facilities will include larger auditorium, bigger fitness area and other amenities that the seniors at the current center are excited about.
“A lot of them have shared with us that they never believed it was really going to happen until now,” Executive Director David Tucker says. “So, they’re very excited to have a new home to call their senior Center and we’re also planning for those generations to come.”
They will be having a ground breaking for the new center soon.
