Daviess County schools achieve legacy status

DAVIESS CO., Ken. (WFIE) - A big celebration happened today at Country Heights and Sorgho Elementary School as they became a legacy schools.

Becoming a legacy school involves certain requirements like the school like taking part in the program “Leader in Me.”

The students that take part in that program follow several daily habits that help them in developing leadership skills and being proactive.

“Seeing them become leaders and seeing them build their leadership capacity here at country take ownership of their own, you know, it drives our academics to take ownership of leadership here in the building,” says Brandy Bishop. principal at Country Heights.

Officials say there are 27 schools that have made legacy school status out of 8,500.
