DAVIESS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - A construction project that is expected to span more than half-a-year is expected to begin Thursday in Daviess County.

Transportation officials say a contractor will spend the next 6 to 8 months replacing an 83-year-old bridge over Panther Creek at the community of Petit.

Officials tell us this construction could cause delays for drivers who use U.S. 431 on the west side of Owensboro.

KYTC says there will be temporary lane restrictions at the bridge on Thursday with demolition scheduled to begin within the next two weeks.

Once work begins, officials say the bridge will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the project.

Crews will remove one side of the bridge and replace it, while traffic is allowed through on the other side of the bridge.
