EPD cracks down on speeding on the Lloyd Expressway
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville Police Department officials made over 75 vehicle stops on the Lloyd Expressway Monday due to speeding violations.
According to police, they say several complaints about speeding on the Lloyd Expressway led them to join forces with Traffic and Crime Prevention Units to conduct a four-hour speed enforcement detail.
“We didn’t stop anybody under 70 miles an hour. The speed limit is 50. So 20 miles an hour over the speed limit is entirely too fast and I think people just don’t realize that they’re going that fast on the Lloyd Expressway,” says Sgt. Nick Winsett. “But my suggestion would be to put down your cell phones you know pay attention to what you’re doing and obey the speed limit.“
They say 77 vehicles were stopped, 57 citations were issued, 33 written warnings were issued and there was one arrest made.
