Downed powerlines and trees reported after Wednesday night storms
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - From live wires, sparking up in the rain, to first responders blocking off roads for flooding and trees, Wednesday’s rounds of severe weather took a toll on the Evansville area.
High winds left several trees and power lines down, in some cases forcing drivers to find another route, but the damage wasn’t limited to travel.
An old tree fell down on top of Darrell McKnight’s home on Bayard Park Drive.
“I’ve never been in a tornado, but the house started shaking really bad, the windows and everything and all the sudden I heard a boom, and I thought to myself I said it’s time to go to Kansas. The Wizard of Oz. The dog looked at me and everything,” said McKnight.
With so much damage left behind from Wednesday’s storms and more rain in the forecast, it could be troubling as crews get out and start to cleaning up debris left by the storms.
