WABASH CO., Ill. (WFIE) - A garbage truck driver is recovering in the hospital after an accident in Allendale, Illinois.
Around 1:40 p.m. Monday, deputies with the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 2306 E. 1200 Road for the crash.
A 911 caller told dispatch that a garbage truck overturned on the east side of the road and down the embankment.

We’re told he was flown to an Evansville area hospital with major injuries.
Deputies received help from the Lawrence Co. Sheriff’s Office, Wabash General Ambulance Service, Allendale Rural Fire Protection District and Sully’s Towing.
Deputies say that road was closed until around 8 p.m.
The northbound lane was closed for some time Tuesday as well while crews completed cleanup.
