Authorities name man hit and killed by train in Carmi

WHITE CO., Illi. (WFIE) - Carmi Police Department officials say multiple railroad crossings were closed after a man was hit by train Monday morning.
Police say 46-year-old Joe Murphy walked around the crossing arms at Stewart Street and was hit.
They say the train had already started its emergency stop and warning lights and the train’s whistle were all working properly.
According to a press release, the railroad crossings at Burrell, Stewart and 5th Streets were all closed during the investigation.
