Neighbors step in to help after fire destroys Haynie’s Corner restaurant
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - As we told you, fire destroyed part of the building which houses the Sauced restaurant in the Haynie’s Corner Neighborhood of Evansville.
Now, the community is stepping up to help those who work there.
The owners of other restaurants in the area say they’re kind of like a family.
They say Sauced is an area fixture, and it was hard to see what happened to it.
With that in mind, they’re doing what they can to help.

Firefighters were called to the restaurant just before 5 p.m. Wednesday night.
It took crews more than an hour to put out the fire in the three-story building.
Along with the restaurant, there are also four apartments there, but they say no one was hurt.
Moriah Hobgood is the owner of Mo’s House, which is across the street.
She says she got her start working at Sauced and was among those who watched as fire crews worked to save the building.
After seeing what happened, she started a GoFundMe on behalf of the restaurant’s owner and those who work there.
“It is such a beautiful thing to watch a community come together when you’re at your lowest low. It’s had a great response, but any share or donation that could help these guys out would be awesome,” said Mo.
She says competition between restaurants can be a good thing, but this is a time for coming together and supporting one another.
She says the fundraiser has already had a huge response since it went live Thursday morning.
