Deaconess launches new AI platform giving physicians more time for patient care
TRI-STATE. (WFIE) - Deaconess Health System is expanding the use of Abridge, a generative AI platform for clinical documentation, across its 19-hospital network.
According to a press release, following an overwhelmingly successful pilot program, this enterprise-wide expansion emphasizes Deaconess’ commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to improve healthcare delivery for the 1.5 million people it serves across southwestern Indiana, western Kentucky and southeastern Illinois.
Deaconess has quadrupled the originally planned deployment of Abridge due to high clinician demand.
Officials say the platform has proven instrumental in reducing administrative burdens, enhancing patient engagement and saving clinicians valuable time that can be redirected to patient care.
The decision was driven by overwhelming demand from clinicians across specialties, including the emergency department, who experienced firsthand the platform’s ability to save time, reduce administrative burdens and enhance patient engagement.
“Our decision to partner with Abridge reflects Deaconess’ broader commitment to leveraging advanced technology to meet the needs of our patients and providers,” said Jeremiah Kenoyer, Lead Clinical Analyst at Deaconess. “Abridge’s ability to adapt to our workflows and listen to feedback has been critical to this successful rollout. It’s not just about technology; it’s about improving the experience for everyone involved in care delivery.”
