ILLINOIS (WFIE) - Many people were left without power early Wednesday morning in our local part of southern Illinois.

The Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative shared a photo on social media of what caused the outage.

“If you are in the northern part of our territory and wondered why your power was knocked out early this morning….this is why" said a spokesperson on Facebook. “A vehicle appears to have struck and broke a pole, shown here, and knocked power out this morning.”

Officials say power was restored quickly for most residents thanks to Hoosier Energy and their ability to switch to other electric feeds remotely.
