Evansville girl surprised with Taylor Swift tickets at Riley Hospital for Children
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A young Evansville girl, who is getting treatment at Riley Hospital for Children, just got a huge surprise.
Seven-year-old Ja’isaibella Boyd and her family were one of the first to participate in Riley’s sickle cell telemedicine clinic in 2018.
Izzy says her love for music has helped her through her health struggles.
Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that leads to life limiting complications.
Thanks to a collaboration with the Riley Children’s Foundation and Lora Denney from Denney Excavating, Izzy and 15 other patients learned they were getting suite tickets to the sold out Taylor Swift Eras Tour.
The announcement took place during a Taylor Swift-inspired event at the hospital Wednesday.
The patients gathered to make friendship bracelets and play “Taylor Trivia.”
The last trivia question revealed the big surprise.
“Who will be at Taylor’s final show on the last leg of her U.S. tour in Indianapolis on Sunday?” they were asked.
“um…Travis Kelce?” guessed a patient.
“No. You all will be going!” they were told.
Many were left with tears streaming down their faces. Others jumped out of their chairs.
Izzy’s mom, DeAndria Powell, says “Shake it Off” is a song they sing often when a pain spell hits Izzy.
She says they‘ve never been able to experience something like this, and she and Izzy can’t wait to see Taylor Swift.
