OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Daviess County Friday afternoon for Healthforce Kentucky’s renovations of the building that used to be the Owensboro Health Business Center.

It’s now a 36,000 square feet high tech simulation center.

Several speakers in attendance for Healthforce Kentucky’s groundbreaking talked about this new project and the cooperation they’ve had with the many organizations involved.

Officials plan on having health simulations for students to learn more about the health field and everything it has to offer.

Chancellor for HealthForce Kentucky, Bart Darrell, spoke about what their goal is for the facility and the goals for the students that’ll be using it.

“The younger folks were hoping that we spark curiosity to much earlier ages, because I think we can all agree that the most curious people saw the world’s greatest problems and where our goals to attack the healthcare professional shortages that exist nationwide, certainly right here in our Kentucky,” said Darrell.

The old building is still being gutted out right now, but officials with Healthforce are hopeful that renovations on the building will be complete by this time next year.
