Cross drain work starting Monday on KY 853 in Muhlenberg Co.
MUHLENBURG CO., Ky. (WFIE) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin blocking KY 853 in Muhlenberg County next week to replace cross drains.
Beginning Monday, March 31, the roadway will be blocked periodically to allow crews to remove and replace damaged drainage tiles under the pavement.
The closure will be limited to the area near the tiles being replaced that day and will move as work progresses.
Depending on weather and other factors, the closure may not be in effect every day.
There are 11 cross drains scheduled to be replaced during this project.
In most cases it will be necessary to leave the closures in place over night to allow the new concrete time to cure.
The project area runs from the KY 189 to Cave Springs Road with work scheduled to completed by mid-April.
There will be no marked detour.
