(CNN) - TikTok told advertisers it is “absolutely confident” in its platform and its future.

Those comments came on Tuesday at a sales presentation to marketers.

Digital platforms do a similar thing to a television network’s “upfronts,” where they pitch their new shows to advertisers. And TikTok advertisers have plenty to be concerned about, with the platform legally required to find a buyer.

But the company’s confidence may be rooted in more than just public relations posturing.

President Donald Trump told NBC’s “Meet the Press” over the weekend he has a “warm spot” in his heart for TikTok.

He said he’d extend the deadline for it to find a buyer if he has to, adding, “it’ll be very strongly protected.”

In his first term, Trump called for TikTok to be banned.

He changed his tune after some credited the platform for helping him attract younger voters last year.
