Ganaway introduced as new coach for Owensboro football program
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The coaching carosel has been active this offseason in the high school football world for us here in the Tri-State.
After Jay Fallin announced he was stepping down at Owensboro, the Red Devils began their search.
Over the weekend, they found their guy, DaMarcus Ganaway.
Today, the Red Devils officially introduced Ganaway as their new program head, with a press conference open to the public for fans to meet the new head man.
Ganaway makes his return to the Tri-State once more, having played at Kentucky Wesleyan, then coming back to coach at Ohio County and Bosse following a brief stint in the NFL.
For Ganaway, the high quality program and history for the Devils made the choice easy.
“It’s at the top of the top when you talk about the Tri-State and the region, and for good cause. There have been a lot of great athletes that have come through this program, not just in football. Owensboro as a whole has been great,” said New Head Coach DaMarcus Ganaway. “That’s what keeps the standards so high. I expect to get some calls and texts from people excited for what’s going on and get some questions, but I’m ready for it and I’m excited, I know we will continue to do great things.”
The Red Devils have put together solid seasons lately, and there is still plenty of excitement as they return a lot of talent.
“All I can say is I’m excited,” said Coach Ganaway. “The boys are excited, the coaches that I got to talk to and had a meeting with last night were excited, so it just excites me even more to feel what’s going on right now, and I’m ready to get going.”
