EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - After Tony Lewis decided to call it a career after a 34-year stint coaching football, for the first time in six years, the Jasper Wildcats were in need of a new head for their football program. Who would fill the shoes of Tony Lewis? Actually, it’s a familiar last name here in the Tri-State. Hart.

Derek Hart will be the new head coach of the football program at Jasper High School. And yes, he is the son of former Mt. Carmel and Reitz head football coach John Hart, and brother of current Gibson Southern head, Nick Hart.

Most recently, Derek Hart coached in Indianapolis, the last two seasons spent with North Central.

Looking for a place to settle down with his family, Jasper just felt like home. So while he will be new to the area, and new to the program, Head Coach Derek Hart is certainly not new to the world of coaching football.
