Owensboro Catholic Football hoping second straight time at state, is the charm
OWENSBORO, KY. (WFIE) - We have two teams, down in Kentucky, who will both compete, for state championships, this weekend.
Union County plays in the class 3A final, Saturday, while Owensboro Catholic, will play in the class 2A title game, on Friday, against Beechwood.
For the Aces, it will be their second, consecutive season, going to state, but this time, they hope to win it. Last year, they lost in the 2A final, to Mayfield, in a wild, 53-48 shootout. It was their only loss, last season, and all the Aces, who played in last year’s title game, have not forgotten, how painful, that loss was.
As we said, this time around, they will face Beechwood: another perennial power in Kentucky, and Aces' head coach Jason Morris tells us, the opponent, conjures up some old memories, for him.
Owensboro Catholic will face Beechwood, on Friday, at 3:00 CST, at Lexington’s Kroger Field.
Then, on Saturday, Union County plays Louisville Christian Academy, in Lexington, at 11 a.m. CST.
