INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WFIE) - What a Saturday it was for the Heritage Hills football program. The entire area of North Spencer County is still celebrating on Sunday, after their Patriots, brought home the IHSAA class 3A state championship, Saturday night.

The Patriots won the state title, with a convincing 38-15 victory, over Fort Wayne Luers. It’s the second state championship, for Heritage Hills football, and the first for Todd Wilkerson, in his time there, as head coach. The other state title, came back in the year 2000, before every player on this team, was even born!

Now, Heritage Hills' defense, was a big reason why they won state, as they gave up, only 9 points per game, on average, for the entire season! They had five shutouts, and, in what you would think, would be their three toughest games of the season -- the regional, semistate, and state -- they only gave up 22 points, total, in those three games!

Of course, we can’t leave out the offense. Heritage Hills ran for 328 yards! Quarterback Jett Goldsberry had 177 of those yards, while Hunter Meredith, had 141 on the ground.

In fact, the Pats tied the record, for most rushing TD’s in a state finals game, with five, en-route, to their dominant, state title victory!
