EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - It’s two months until the total solar Eclipse.

Thousands of people are expected to come to the Tri-State to witness this once in a lifetime experience.

Evansville is in the direct line of totality, and embers of Explore Evansville tell us that they’ve been preparing for this day for over a year.

On April 8, and the days leading up, over half a million people are expected to travel to the state of Indiana, and over 80,000 just to Evansville.

Explore Evansville’s Kate Reibel tells us that from an economic stand-point, the amount of people coming is expected to bring the city over $7 million in revenue.

Reibel also shared some tips on how you can have the best experience during the eclipse.

”Make a plan. Make sure you know where you’re going to meet your friends and set a meeting point after. Don’t schedule anything important that day. At 2 p.m., just look up and enjoy the awe of this truly once in a lifetime experience. Never again will we be able to walk out in our back yards, in our lifetime, and see a total solar eclipse,” said Reibel.

We do want to remind you that you’ll need ISO certified glasses to enjoy this experience.

You can buy the glasses at the solar eclipse planning office located at 20 NW 3rd St., Suite 410. in Evansville.

Glasses are $2 each, and there’s a limit of 10 glasses per person.

They are also available at the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library.

Other businesses, schools, and organizations are giving them away, so keep your eye out.
