EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Well we were about to preview tomorrow’s cross town matchup between the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana... until the game was postponed by one day.

USI Baseball fields still taking in the rain, so that gives us an extra chance to simply check in with the teams. For Chris Ramirez and his USI squad, he emphasized simply the team needing to be in a better place compared to the first game of the year, and through the ups and downs, there have been plenty of signs that USI checks that box.

“I think we’ve grown a lot, but at the same time, I think we’ve got a lot to work on still, and that’s what midweek games are really good for,” said Head Coach Chris Ramirez. “You’re going to see a bunch of different guys pitch for us, and as we get here, with two weekends left of regular season, just trying to figure out how to finish games, how to win games moving into the conference tournament.”

And while across town Wes Carroll has been with the Aces for some time, he’s dealing with a similar situation with a fresh roster.

“Whenever you have a lot of new talent in your program, you’re going to ride the ups and downs with it,” said Head Coach Wes Carroll. “Now it’s about time to level off and try to find the best version of your club, and that’s really what we’ve been searching for over the past month. I feel like the last three weeks coming up here, we’re going to get that with the help of our pitchers, we’re getting some great offense, I feel like all three things can come together for us to put ourselves in a position to make a run.”

We will pick up where we left off with the game preview on Tuesday night!
