EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Several frontal boundaries will bring scattered shower/storm activity to the Tri-State through the weekend. A cold front will swing through the Tri-State tonight. The front will kick up a line of showers and storms. While the severe weather risk is low, I can’t completely rule out some warnings as the storms pass by. We will dry out through the middle of the work week before more storms work back into the forecast by Thursday and Friday.

For the rest of our afternoon anticipate mostly cloudy skies with breaks of sun. Highs will top out in the upper 70s to lower 80s today. A cold front will then swing in from west to east overnight Sunday into early Monday morning. Storms will begin to push into southern Illinois around 10 pm and will exit to the east of the Tri-State by around 4 am. Again, while we aren’t expecting widespread severe weather, some storms may become strong to severe as the front passes overhead. The best chance for a severe storm warning will be over southern Illinois but it is possible even into southern Indiana and Western Kentucky. If storms gain enough strength the primary hazard would be damaging wind gusts and brief sping-up tornadoes, but hail can’t be completely ruled out either.

Showers will linger into the early morning hours on Monday before gradually clearing and drying into the afternoon. Highs on Monday will top out in the lower 70s. Tuesday and Wednesday look to be the driest days of the work week with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s to around 80. More scattered showers and storms will be possible Thursday and Friday.
