Record rainfall, historic flooding continue Saturday
2-month’s worth of rain in 2 days across Kentucky
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Flooding rainfall will continue today across the Tri-State. Flash flooding will worsen as our stubborn weather pattern dumps even more rain over the area. Already, Evansville Regional Airport has picked up 3.63″ of rain in a little over 2 days, nearly a month’s worth. In Western Kentucky, Madisonville has received 6.72″ of rain in 2 days as measured at WKU’s mesonet site. Other locations with record rainfall include: Calhoun with 4.32″, Greenville with 7.62″, Morganfield with 5.07″ and Beaver Dam with 6.59″. Owensboro Airport is standing at 3.88″, nearly double the normal amount of rain. In Illinois, nearly 3″ has fallen in Fairfield. Most areas will likely see another 2-3″ of rainfall today. Flash flood warnings continue or will be issued for nearly every county in the 14News viewing area. A low risk for severe weather/damaging winds will linger over Kentucky today. Rain will gradually end by Sunday evening. Clearing and cooler for next week with highs in the 50’s and 60’s and dry through at least Wednesday.
