EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - High-pressure building in from the north will keep the weather fairly calm through the beginning of the work week. Another storm system will bring potentially numerous to widespread severe storms Wednesday evening into Wednesday night. Multiple rounds of heavy rain and storms will plague the second half of the work week and into the first half of the weekend. Widespread flooding is becoming increasingly likely.

For the rest of our Monday anticipate cooler temperatures hovering into the upper 40s to around 50 with cloudy skies. Skies will begin to clear tonight with temperatures dropping into the mid-30s. Tuesday will feature more in the way of sunshine with some clouds thrown into the mix but the weather will remain dry. Highs on Tuesday will bump up to near normal, topping out in the lower 60s. Clouds will increase Tuesday evening with a slight chance of a shower or storm overnight. Lows will drop into the lower 50s. The first half of the day on Wednesday should remain mostly dry but a couple of stray showers can’t be completely ruled out. Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s ahead of the cold front. The cold front will swing through during the evening and linger possibly into early Thursday morning. The threat for severe weather will be along the leading edge of the cold front so we will be On Alert through the evening and late into the night for potentially numerous to widespread severe weather. All hazards will be possible including large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes, and flooding. The front will stall over the Ohio River acting as a guide for several more rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms that will linger through the first half of the weekend. We will be on alert Thursday through Saturday, mostly for the widespread flooding threat where as much as 5-10″ of rain may fall across the Tri-state. Some stronger storms will also be possible during this time frame so the threat for some severe storms may continue but we will be able to iron out more of those details as we get closer.
