80's Friday, widespread severe storms possible Sunday
Large hail, wind and tornado threat
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -Scattered showers will continue through Thursday night. A few storms may become strong with hail, especially in areas north of I-64 in southern Illinois. Showers and storms will end early Friday. Winds shift to the south and temperatures will race up into the upper 70’s lower 80s by Friday afternoon. Rain and a few non-severe thunderstorms likely Saturday as the Tri-State will be in the warm sector, which is an area of warm moist air ahead of the cold front. Highs on Saturday should top out around 75. Sunday’s severe threats are coming into a little better focus. The Storm Prediction Center has continued a slight 2 of 5 risk across much of the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys for Sunday. Our First Alert Weather Day is for possible large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes on Sunday afternoon and evening. Highs will rise into the mid 70s on Sunday ahead of the storms. All storms and rain should be out of the Tri-State by Monday. Temperatures will plunge into the middle 50s on Monday and then creep back into the lower 60s by Tuesday. More showers and storms will be possible by the middle of next week.
