EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -Wednesday brought more sunshine and pleasant weather as highs climbed to near 60. A weather disturbance to our west will lift a warm front into the Tri-State on Thursday. Temps will climb into the mid 60s with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible during the day. A little more energy will work into southern Illinois later Thursday night and early Friday morning. A few storms may produce large hail. The SPC now includes Southern Illinois in a level 1 of 5 Marginal Risk for severe storms late Thursday through early Friday. Skies will clear on Friday as winds kick up from the south. Highs will shoot into the upper 70s. An approaching cold front will stir up storms and showers on Saturday across the region. The cold front arrives Sunday, and may provide the focus for more widespread severe weather. Our First Alert Weather Day continues for Sunday. Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes may all be possible if things come together at the right time. The current forecast models point to Sunday afternoon and evening for the greatest chance for severe weather. Once the storms exit Sunday night, cooler and drier air will filter in for early next week. Highs will drop back into the mid 50s on Monday.
