On Alert for more wind, severe storms on Wednesday
Tornadoes possible Wednesday afternoon-evening
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -Sunny and cooler to start the week, but temperatures will quickly warm back into the 70s by Tuesday. Skies will stay clear Monday night and lows will sink into the middle 40s on Tuesday morning. Southerly winds will start to pick up on Tuesday and gust at 15-25 mph with mostly sunny skies. Another potent storm system will sweep in from the plains on Wednesday. We have a First Alert Weather Day in place for Thursday for strong winds and possible severe weather, including a risk for tornadoes. Storms should line up to our west and move through the Tri-State late Wednesday afternoon into the evening hours. Wind gusts of up to 40+ mph are likely outside of thunderstorms. Because of the way the atmosphere will be stacked, there will be a risk for tornadoes again. Temperatures on Wednesday will top out around 70. Storms will clear the area late Wednesday night and temperatures will plunge back into the 30s Thursday morning. Afternoon highs on Thursday will top out near 50, 20-degrees cooler than the day before. We will gradually warm back into the 60s Friday through the weekend. More showers and storms are possible from late Saturday through Monday.
