EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A ridge of high pressure will build in from the south through the start of the work week. A cold front will sweep through on Wednesday bringing the chance for some showers and even a few thunderstorms, severe weather is not expected. Temperatures cool down for Thursday before returning to slightly above-average levels for the end of the work week and into the weekend. Some more showers will be possible by the weekend.

For the rest of the afternoon anticipate chilly temperatures in the lower 40s with cloudy skies. Dry air will work in from the west this evening, allowing skies to gradually clear overnight. Temperatures will be cold tonight! Lows will drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s.

We’ll luck out on the forecast for St. Patrick’s Day! Expect Sunny skies on Monday with temperatures returning to the upper 50s to around 60. Winds will become southerly between 5-10 mph. The weather will remain quiet Monday night with temperatures dropping into the lower 40s. Winds will pick up speed on Tuesday. Winds will be out of the south between 10-15 mph with gusts between 25-30 mph. Southerly winds will also warm us up well above average. Highs will top out in the low to mid-70s. A cold front will swing through the Tri-State on Wednesday bringing the chance for some scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Severe weather is not anticipated at this time. It will also get windy with gusts between 30-35 mph possible. The front will cool temperatures down for Thursday. Highs will top out in the upper 40s to lower 50s. High pressure will keep the weather quiet Thursday and Friday before some more clouds and showers return over the weekend.
