EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A shakeup is coming for local high school athletics right here in Evansville, as Vincennes Lincoln will be departed the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference.

The news first broke yesterday along with information that the Alices could potentially look to join WIC, the Western Indiana Conference.

Vincennes Lincoln will stay in the SIAC through the 2025-26 school year before departing. They first joined the SIAC in 2020.

Of course now with Vincennes Lincoln on the way out, the question is what will the SIAC do.

“The SIAC has put out a notice that we are interested in expanding our conference. We put that throughout the whole state of Indiana. We also have to look at the best options, the best schools that come to us to make the SIAC better than it is right now,” said SIAC Commissioner John Skinner. “The SIAC is still a good conference, we want to stay that way. Nine schools is still a good strong conference, it gives us a lot of options with our scheduling.”

The conference has plenty of time with the Alices not departing until after the 2025-26 school year, but stay tuned on 14 News for updates.
