Very cold start to the work week
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - High pressure will keep the weather quiet for the weekend. A cold front may bring some flurries tonight. After the cold front clears the Tri-State, very cold air will work its way back into the forecast through the beginning of the work week. We may warm back up to near normal by the end of the week with rain possible.
For the rest of the afternoon anticipate partly to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the upper 30s. A cold front will pass overhead this evening night, this front is rather dry but it may conjure up some flurries. Little to no accumulation is expected. Overnight lows will drop into the lower 20s, so anything that is wet from melting snow will become black ice. Be careful!
Very cold temperatures return by the start of the work week. Highs on Monday will top out in the mid-20s with partly cloudy skies. Winds will be a bit breezy out of the northwest with gusts up to 15 mph possible. This will make wind-chill values drop into the single digits Monday morning and it feel like the teens all day. Monday night will feature mostly clear skies with lows dropping all the way down into the single digits again. Highs Tuesday through Wednesday will remain in the lower 20s with overnight lows in the single digits and teens. Another clipper system looks to pass to our north on Tuesday. As it passes to our north, we may get scraped by a few flurries/light snow showers. Warmer air looks to work its way back into the forecast by the end of the week where highs may top out in the mid-30s Thursday and possibly around 40 by Friday. Another storm system looks to move in Friday night into Saturday. At this point in time both models agree that the main precipitation type will be rain but as always we will continue to monitor and bring you the latest updates as we get closer!
