More rain with some thunder possible through the end of the week
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Multiple low-pressure-systems will impact the Tri-state through the end of the week and into the weekend. Temperatures will remain well above average through the weekend and possibly the beginning of next week.
For the rest of the afternoon anticipate mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance of spotty showers, other-wise we should stay mostly dry. Skies will remain cloudy with rain pushing in from southwest to northeast late overnight into Friday morning. Overnight lows will drop into the mid to upper 40s. Some moderate to heavy pockets of rain will be possible and you can’t rule out a few rumbles of thunder. Rainfall amounts from overnight and into Friday will range from .25″ to .50″.
Once the bulk of the rain clears out Friday morning, shower chances decrease into the afternoon. Highs on Friday will reach the mid to upper 50s. Winds may be a bit breezy out of the southeast with gusts up to 20 mph. Our next system looks to move through the region Saturday night. This system will bring more rain and possibly some thunderstorms. This system has some more moisture with it, so heavy pockets of rain will once again be possible. The severe weather risk is low. At this point in time, the Storm Prediction Center has us outlooked for ordinary thunderstorms. As always we’ll continue to monitor the setup. After some lingering rain for Sunday morning, the rest of the day should remain dry with highs topping out in the mid to upper 50s.
A cold front is forecast to swing through the Tri-State on Tuesday of next week. This front will bring the chance for some showers, but more importantly, it marks the start of a cooling trend through the beginning of January.
