EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A clipper system will pass by to our north overnight into Friday. As it passes by, some light snow showers and flurries will be possible Friday. Temperatures cool down into the 30′s for the weekend. We’ll warm up through next week with rain possible leading up to Christmas.

Anticipate sunny skies for the rest of the afternoon with temperatures hanging out in the lower 40s. The weather will remain fairly quiet tonight. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with a very slight chance of a sprinkle or a flurry overnight as a clipper system dives in from the northwest. Low tonight will drop into the lower 30s.

The clipper system will continue to dive in from the northwest on Friday. Even though it is expected to remain to our north, it looks like it could still conjure up a few light snow showers or flurries for Friday. The best chances of seeing a few flurries will be northeast of Evansville, but everyone has at least a slight chance. No impactful accumulations are expected other than the potential for quick dusting on grassy or elevated surfaces. Highs on Friday will reach the mid-30s. The winds will be breezy as well. Winds may gust up to 20-30 mph out of the northwest. The combination of cold temperatures and strong winds will send wind-chill values down into the teens waking up Friday morning and will settle into the low 20s all day. The clipper will flee to the east Friday night allowing us to clear out. Lows will drop into the mid-20s.

The weekend is looking nice weather-wise! High pressure will keep the weather dry but cool. Expect partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies on both days with highs topping out in the mid to upper 30s.

Our next weather-maker looks to move in Monday night through Christmas Eve and potentially linger into Christmas. This system may bring the chance for scattered showers during this time period, so our odds for a White Christmas are dwindling to 0%. Temperatures will also warm up through 40s Monday and Tuesday before topping out in the lower 50s on Christmas day.
