95-year-old Evansville woman casts ballot
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - One 95-year-old woman is casting what she believes to be her last vote, but she isn’t letting her age keep her from making it to the polls.
Audrey Haggason says she voted for the first time for in 1953 for Dwight D. Eisenhower, and since then she hasn’t missed voting in an election.
“I thought I was gonna miss the election because it was such long lines the other day, but my great son-in-law said he’d get me here today,” said Haggason. “We lucked out because we didn’t have a long line, and now people are coming, and that’s important.”
No matter the outcome of your vote, Haggason says it’s still a privilege that we have a voice, where in other countries, freedom might not be the case.
