EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - As Tri-State voters made their voices heard this morning, it meant a busy day at many polling locations.

14 News spent the afternoon at Washington Square Mall and spoke with voters about how it felt to finally arrive at election day.

After a long campaign season, people lined up to do their civic duty, and looked forward to an end to campaigning.

For many, the time at the polls was a family affair.

Some came to the polls with their friends.

While some were helpful and supportive, others were playfully coercive.

Some expected a long wait for the voting machines, and planned accordingly.

Despite how much political division people say they’ve seen lately, they were eager to do their part, and even try to connect with those around them.

Poll workers at the mall say they were happy with how they handled the turnout and they were helped by the large number of early voters this election cycle.
