New crisis service service available in Warrick Co.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A new crisis service program is now available in Warrick County.
Southwestern Behavioral Health and the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office signed a new agreement Tuesday morning.
It provides people in the county with three new tools, a 24 hour crisis hot-line, a crisis mobile response team, and a crisis stabilization unit.
According to staff at Southwestern, the unit will be used when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, but doesn’t require hospitalization.
“When individuals are in crisis, they need help now, and we want to provide that service now. We don’t want them to wait until tomorrow. We want to give them what they need in that moment and engage them. So our staff are trained to be able to do that in that moment and figure out what is next for them,” said Southwestern Behavorial Healthcare President/CEO Katy Adams.
Southwestern has seen success with these tools in Vanderburgh County, saying over 15,000 clients have been served over the past two years.
