TRISATE (WFIE) - As summer break is here, kids have more time on their hands.

Sometimes parents have to work, and kids are left with no agenda.

There are programs out there to help continue a child’s education through the summer.

The YMCA Community Outreach branch is doing its part to help your family this summer.

“We’re offering free fruits and vegetables to kids to make sure and free lunches to make sure those kids have ample supply of things. So, if you can as a parent make sure that kid has ample amounts of fruits and vegetables over the summer just continues to help their brain develop. So when they go back to school, they’re ready to go back at the best level they can,” said Outreach Executive Director Sean Kuykendall.

Experts say the number one time that kids get in trouble is after school between three to six when parents aren’t home to supervise.

When parents are working during the summer, that could be amplified.

Many organizations throughout the Tri-State are ready and willing to help your kids have a structured summer.
