Evansville store bringing Halloween to upcoming eclipse
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Ahead of April’s total solar eclipse, many businesses and organizations are offering their own branded eclipse glasses. This includes one Evansville store which is more commonly associated with horror and Halloween.
The Nick Nackery is a Tri-State haven for those who love horror and the macabre.
“That’s one of the things we try to bring to the store is more of a love and appreciation for the genre and of all things spooky,” said Nick Nackery owner Dan Bean.
They’ll be bringing that spookiness to April’s eclipse. The store is selling their own branded eclipse glasses, and they say they made sure to stock quality glasses with a range of certifications.
They tell us their glasses were in such demand during a past eclipse that a line extended down the street. This time they’re making sure they’re ready well in advance.
“We wanted to really make sure that no one’s retinas are going to get burned out during the eclipse,” said Bean.
This isn’t the first time the store brought the spooky vibes out of October. Leading up to Christmas, horror fans can pose with Krampus. Before Easter, you can get a picture with Frank from Donnie Darko.
They even held their inaugural Vampire Ball earlier this month, all the tickets for which sold out within two weeks.
“To be able to be with like-minded people who really just enjoy the same things we do, it’s really great to be able to support the community like that and it’s really great when we get to see them come back and support us in turn,” said Bean.
Dan and his wife took over the Nick Nackery about two and a half years ago. They say it’s a lot of work, and their Halloween prep runs year round, but it’s all worth it.
“It is just a great, great life experience that we’re really happy to be able to have,” said Bean. “Best decision that we’ve ever made.”
