INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WPTA) - Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Indianapolis on Wednesday to attend Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.’s Grand Boulé.

The moderated conversation is part of a series of speaking engagements the vice president planned for the month to “build coalitions while speaking directly with Black Americans, women, young leaders, and community leaders from throughout the nation,” according to a press release from the American Presidency Project.

Earlier this month she took part in a moderated conversation at the 30th ESSENCE Festival of Culture and gave the keynote speech at Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s 71st Boulé.

During the events, Harris has urged attendees to join her “in fighting to protect fundamental freedoms – including the freedom for women to make decisions about their own bodies, the freedom to live safe from gun violence, the freedom to vote, the freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water, and the freedom to learn America’s full history,” according to a press release.

This will be the vice president’s first public speaking engagement in the Hoosier state since President Joe Biden ended his 2024 presidential campaign and endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee for the seat.

Harris won’t be the only candidate with sights on the White House visiting Indiana Wednesday, however. Donald Trump’s vice president pick, JD Vance, will be visiting Fort Wayne for a fundraising event.

The fundraising event Vance is attending will be a closed event, so 21Alive News will not be in attendance. However, we will have a reporter in Indianapolis for the vice president’s visit.
