FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Senator JD Vance (R-OH), recently thrust back into the national spotlight after being selected as Donald Trump’s running mate, will be stopping by the Summit City on Wednesday.

Allen County GOP Chairman Steve Shine confirmed JD Vance is coming to Fort Wayne for a fundraising reception on July 24, organized by local GOP contributor Bill Bean.

A $1,000 contribution to Trump’s fundraising committee, Trump 47, is required for those wishing to attend the reception. Attendees can also donate anywhere from $15,000-$50,000 for a photo opportunity or to attend a roundtable discussion.

Back in 2018, Trump himself visited Fort Wayne to support Mike Braun’s run for Senate.

The GOP presidential candidate announced the 39-year-old Ohio senator as his running mate on Monday at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Vance first got national recognition after the publication of his 2016 memoir “Hillbilly Elegy,” later turned into a movie adaption starring Amy Adams and Glenn Close. The Ohio native was then elected to the Senate in 2022.

The Associated Press reports Vance was once an outspoken Trump critic but is now known as a staunch supporter of his “Make America Great Again” agenda.

Vance is set to address a national audience for the first time since Trump’s announcement on Wednesday evening at the RNC.
